I don’t remember the actual making of the print, but I do remember always being fascinated with nesting dolls. This was a grade school art project, I found the print while sorting out the basement.
Last night during Open Studio I proofed a lino cut I did while on vacation this summer. It really is simple and relaxing to carve the soft linoleum.  I love the pure contrast of the purple ink on the white paper, but I also just had to try printing chine-colle, using red rice paper adhered between the base paper and the print.  I love the Ragged Edges!

The inspiration for the next carving will be this set of nesting dolls my friend Tatiana brought me last year from a visit back to her home country of Russia!
